Winter Outreach to Area Middle Schools is Underway!

Sam Grinnell, Andy Obst, and Coach Bob van Twyver have launched an exciting new outreach program for local middle schools to help grow the Club Program at Megunticook Rowing.
Our club rowing program is designed for young rowers who are just learning to row. We’re offering special winter training sessions starting in February through early spring – perfect preparation before getting back on the water.
Once on-the-water sessions resume around April, these rowers will train in our new twin-hull sweep, super-stable barge, The Cat three afternoons a week. This program introduces the fundamentals of rowing while building technique, endurance, and an appreciation for time on the water in a super stable situation.
Participants will focus on sweep rowing, with a goal of progressing from The Cat to a novice four or eight for the season-ending Dirigo Sprints hosted by Megunticook Rowing in June.
By welcoming middle schoolers into the Club Team now, we’re building the foundation for a strong Varsity Team in the years ahead.
Financial assistance is available. Everybody gets a seat in the boat!
