Megunticook Rowing Welcomes Heather Adle

Heather Adle joins Megunticook Rowing as the Fall Head Coach of Megunticook Rowing. A former elementary school teacher, she brings with her a strong and varied background coaching sweep and sculling technique for both beginners or experienced rowers. Heather will take the baton from Summer Coach Tilghman Moyer who, as planned, returned to Colby College as the Assistant Coach of the Men’s program. Meredith Currier and Will Schaetzke will resume their regular coaching rotation of coaching one session a week each. Sam Abbott will fill out the program as Assistant Coach. Megunticook Rowings’  Summer 2024 program was the strongest since 2021. The momentum is there to grow the Club and Competitive Junior Programs along with the Masters programs, which had a significant number of Learn to Row and Novice rowers this summer. 

Heather is a US Rowing Coach Level II, and is certified in Safe Sport, First Aid, CPR, Michigan Boater Safety, and has passed US Rowing Master’s Coaching Course.She has coached in a variety of programs throughout the country.  In Traverse City, MI, she was the Coach for Experienced Sweep, and Novice and Experienced Sculling. A part of her job was to certify rowers and help plan the home regatta. At the Berkeley Preparatory School, she was the Novice Girls Coach. She prepared the Novice girls in the areas of sweep, sculling, coxing, launching, and becoming a team. She is experienced in implementing safety procedures, creating programming and pricing structures, overseeing assistant coaches, teaching private and group lessons, outfiting launches with safety equipment, teaching dock and boathouse etiquette. In addition, she has planned drills and practices and taught periodization and workout plans, led winter erg training, and discussions on nutrition and stress as factors in athletic performance to promote team positivity. 

Heather will join Megunticook Rowing on September 1st. She will hit the water at race pace, with the Junior Programs starting September 3rd. The season will include the following regattas: Cow Island, Textile River Regatta, New Hampshire Championships, Head of the Charles and Head of the Fish.
