Leslie and Mark get the final meters in!

11,000,000 Meters Erged and Earned

$5737 Raised

Many thanks to all that joined in on Saturday June 1 on Camden’s Village Green as Megunticook Rowers erged those last meters and donated to help us reach our fundraising goal.

It’s safe to say that they are excited to have that challenge behind them and have been appreciating the gorgeous weather that has meant many morning and afternoon sessions on the lake instead of on the ergs.

New gear is ordered and will be in the hands of Megunticook Rowing high school teams before fall rowing begins. Ten sets of Concept2 oars are on order. We chose these oars because they are the standard for race winners around the world. We want our rowers — students, racers, masters — to be equipped with blades that let them realize their true potential on the water. The “Skinny Comp” Concept2 oars are designed with the most advanced blade shape in the industry, for sharp catches and clean releases. We can’t wait to get them on the water!

Most importantly, the ten sets of oars will give us the capacity to get all the junior rowers out on the water at one time. This spring some juniors had to sit out because we did not have enough sculling oars for the number of rowers in our programs. This will allow everyone to scull together.
