Varsity Rowers Continue the Medal Streak – This time on the Water

Chilly start at the May 3rd Mayor's Cup in Medford, Ma. Tucker, Grace, Lucy, Laura won gold with a commanding win over MidCoast Racing. Same four rowers picked up sweep oars with Natasha as cox in the V 4+ but did not advance to the finals from their heat. Next up, the Novice mixed 4+ with Molly, Avery, Natasha, Vivian and Laura cox. Quite the debut for these novice sweepers! They qualified for the B final where they faced Malden, a local team, who veered into our lane twice, and we clashed oars in the last 500. They got the bronze by a boat length! Great job by the entire team, especially the novice 4, racing with one short week on the water! Next up May 9 - Amber Zapatka, Lowell, MA; May 16 - USRowing Northeast Regional Champs, West Windsor, NJ; May 24 - Dirigo Sprints, Megunticook Lake. Let's hope it warms up as we go along!!
